Festivals in Malaysia
(I actually thought that they are going to dance to Super Junior's Black Suit because of the hands)
"Selamat Hari Raya!" "Gong Xi Fa Cai!" "Happy Deepavali!"
Malaysia is a country that has a diversity of race and religions. Whether you're a Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, Iban, you're still a Malaysia. Why? We born in Malaysia and we are all Malaysians despite having different backgrounds. We should be grateful that we live in peace and harmony in a multi racial country.
So, why am I here in the first place? Ha! I am going to tell you about the festivals that are celebrated here in Malaysia. There are a lot of traditional festivals in Malaysia. This is quite special to our country because first of all, Malaysians get to come together and celebrate the festive season together and secondly, we got a lot of holidays. We can create and strengthen our friendship bond with others through this.
What festivals are celebrated in Malaysia? First of all, it's Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha. Aidilfitri is celebrated after Ramadan is over, also known as fasting month. It is to celebrate the victory of fasting for a total of 30 days, to strengthen our bond among family members by apologising to them and accept others' apology, and also.... FREE FOOD AT KENDURI! Well, there is a lot of food during Raya so why not? Okay. Hari Raya Aidiladha or better known as Hari Raya Korban, is celebrated by sacrificing something we cherish the most, but now we just sacrifice a few cows and lambs to get the meat so it can be shared to the community.
Chinese New Year! I didn't get any money this year. Put that thought aside. Chinese New Year is also known as Spring Festival. It is one of Lunar New Years celebrated in Asia. The first two days, we can see the nice and delicious food, lions dances, and the list goes on and on. On the 15th day, it is the Lantern festival. I personally don't know what is this but when I heard about it, it sounds fun. Have you guys know about Mooncake festival? I don't know what it is called but I like that festival the most. The mooncakes of different flavours and varieties taste delicious and I want it again. I'm craving for it because I like the texture of the mooncake. It is simply amazing.
Ah! I remembered something. Last time when I went to celebrate Chinese New Year, I remembered eating a lot of food and watching amazing lion dance at my father's friend's house. Lots of fireworks were fired and it is beautiful. When my family wanted to leave, the fireworks suddenly burst and it is a rain shower of fireworks. Thanks to my long legs and high speed thinking, I managed to hide at the car park which located under the house. It was honestly an unexpected experience to me.
Let's get back to the topic. Happy Deepavali! That's right. Deepavali is a festive celebrated by the Hindus. It is the festival of lights and I really amazed by the creativity to create a kolam made with coloured sand... I think. It is beautiful and I was like "Wow" everytime when I saw the kolam. It is amazing to be honest.
I am proud to be a Malaysian. All of us are living peacefully in this beautiful country. That's all from me and I can't wait to celebrate the festive holidays here in Malaysia.
