The Unlucky Adventures with Me: The Monster in the Book

    Ping.. My mobile phone lit up with a message from Pn. Monica and it was past midnight. I woke up from my sleep and sat on my king-sized bed before I rubbed my eyes with my fists. I looked around and quietly got off from the bed before walking to my study table. I turned on my phone and turned off the switch before unplugged my phone charger. I unlocked my phone with my thumbprint and clicked on the message to see what Pn. Monica had sent to me.

Pn. M: I need to ask you something.

    'Is it something important?' I questioned myself, 'I think it is but she could had asked me at school? Perhaps something bad happened. I don't know but I should answer fast since teacher's still online.'

Me: Ask about what, teacher?

Pn. M: Did you somehow borrowed a book at
the library yesterday?

    'What is this? Teacher messaged me just to ask about that? Really? Out of everything else? Gosh I was worried for a second!' I mentally slapped myself for overthinking. I thought for a moment to recall back what had occurred at school yesterday. I quickly texted back.

Me: Yes! It was a thick book. Looks ancient, though

and the cover is somewhat brown in colour. As I

recalled, the book's title is very blurry. Why

do you ask about that, Pn. M?

Pn. M: Whatever you do, don't ever open

that book. Return to my table on Monday

morning.

    What's up with teacher? Whatever it is I am certainly curious on the contents of the book. I was planning to read it tomorrow morning but then this message popped up. You know what, teacher can't even see me opening it at all. Ah! I'll read it anyway.

    That morning. I stayed inside my bedroom and finished my breakfast on my study table. What did I had for breakfast? It is tang yuan with coconut milk because why not? I glanced at the book Pn. Monica mentioned to me in the chat and I brought the book close to me. I let out a heavy sigh and - "Is your daughter here?"

    No way! I can't let her found out that I was about to open the book and sure, this teacher does have trust issues with me. Well, everyone has trust issues with me. I wanted to open the book because of curiosity and wasn't it weird for someone from stopping you from reading a book? Footsteps was heard and I held onto the book cover. I flipped the book open and just in time, the door was opened. A black hole is formed and I heard Pn. Monica shouted, "I told you to not open it!"

    In a blink of an eye, an eerie, pale hand reached out to my neck and dug its nails into my skin. My eyes widened in shock and I yelled in pain before a ghoulish monster climbed out from the book. As I was about to react, the monster entered inside me and I witnessed my own soul came out. Strings of black fibre pulled my soul's legs and the soul grabbed onto me. I pulled it but then the monster overtook me, causing me to let go of the soul. The soul screamed as it entered inside the book and the book is closed shut. I blinked a few times and breathe heavily before my head started to spin. My hands moved to the sides of my head and I looked down before I closed my eyes.

    "I told you to-" I turned to look and my brown orbs now changed into crimson red. My aura has definitely changed completely and I felt like I was losing sense of humanity. I raised from the mahogany chair I was sitting on and the door was closed shut immediately. A small amount of my sanity was surprised by the sudden action and the windows opened by itself, including the safety railing. The monster in me jumped out from my house and disappeared. The monster abandoned me and the body fell on the roof before rolling downwards. The body was pierced onto a broken dinosaur egg lamp and fell to the ground, blood pouring everywhere. My soul? I couldn't retrieve it until a week later when the monster came back by force. Thanks to Pn. Monica, I don't know whether if I could get my own soul back. Ever since then, I was hospitalized for a long period of time and I learnt that I should have listen and not follow my intuitions all the time.
